POSITION OVERVIEW
The Engineer at this level is in an established mode, fully trained without supervision in the utilization of engineering theories and practices and gaining exposure to Company procedures. The engineer is able to not only discharge his own duties but is capable of supervising the team of design engineers, draftsmen and technicians for delivering complete project scope.Performs a variety of engineering duties by applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses within one discipline.
Assignment may be to a structured rotational program which would include experience in Project Controls, Procurement, and Construction Management, as well as through several disciplines in Engineering. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/ CAD (computer aided design) / GIS (Geographic Information System) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs various engineering and design assignments requiring the application of advanced principles and fundamental theories studied in a four-year university engineering program, and available data in the civil engineering field.
Can independently prepare and supervise the preparation of fundamental engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs. Able to prepare the detailed requisitions for material purchase, services, and subcontracts.
Can undertake independent reviews of supplier drawing submittals and technical bid analyses. Supervise in the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Provides input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project. The engineer will be required to carry out CAD related tasks while using special 3D software and model creation.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
The engineer shall be able to independently carry out designs of collection, conveyance, and disposal of wastewater networks. The engineer shall have advance experience and knowledge of preparing and developing hydraulic models for gravity network, design reports and Bentley SewerCAD / SewerGems, InfoSWMM and Infoworks CS.
Shall be familiar with load demand calculations for large private developments and/ or large government projects. Shall be conversant with Water / Irrigation / Firefighting Authority regulations such as DEWA, ADDC/ ADWEA, DM, ADM, DCD, ADCD and other relevant authorities within gulf region.
Working knowledge of planning, designing and construction of centralized and decentralized wastewater systems, including primary secondary and tertiary wastewater treatment, passive and active systems, sewerage, pumping systems, sludge and effluent management, etc.,
Shall have basis experience in creating utility cross sections as per requirements of local authorities in the Gulf region like RTA (Dubai), DMT (Abu Dhabi), MOMRA (KSA), etc.
Preparation of technical specifications and design reports.
Shall be conversant with the British and American codes as well as DEWA / DM regulations for the design of wastewater systems.
Shall have experience of liaising with service providers agencies for obtaining NOCs and Design Approvals, etc.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering) and master's degree in water related discipline with about 15 to 20 years of related work experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in UAE/GCC.
Candidates with professional qualification (PE, CIWEM or ICE etc.) will be preferred
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Requires advance engineering knowledge in design of urban and industrial wastewater systems. Familiarity with CAD (Civil 3D) and other PC software packages typically associated with wet services engineering is also required.
Regional/international experience of wastewater systems design and management strategies in comparable situations.
We are looking for a team player with strong inter-personal, communication and excellent report writing skills.
Experience in on-the-job training and mentoring in wastewater design and management skills.
