Greets and directs patients & visitors to appropriate nursing units, hospital departments and Clinics & appropriate Reception Department.
Directs visitors accurately by using information available.
Demonstrates ability to diffuse a situation with conflict rather than escalating it.
Answers the telephone; uses directories and computer terminals (HIS) in order to provide information on clinic schedules, registration, requirements.
Answers in a courteous manner with a greeting, which includes department name and the first name of the person answering; e.g., “Information Desk, Hanan speaking.”
Takes sufficient time to determine the need of the caller and routes calls appropriately.
Provides assistance and performs a variety of duties appropriate to a centrally located reception area, such as accepting queries & redirecting patients & visitors to appropriate registration & appointment sections, redirecting complaints to complaint section in administration department; obtaining wheelchairs for patients etc.
Maintain daily work log regarding patient queries & tasks.
Keeps informed of new information by checking for messages in outlook & circulars minimum once per shift.
