CONSULTANT, GENERAL AND ONCOLOGY SURGERY King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre
Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as the provision of medical care in the field of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery, in accordance with the current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the hospital's policies and procedures. Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Assumes primary responsibility for the medical care of the patient under his/her care, directly manages and oversees the care of that patient, and is ultimately responsible for the quality of care for the patient.
2. Provides high quality patient care in all aspects of General Surgery according to his/her approved clinical privileges.
3. Provides consultation (inpatient, and emergency room) upon request and responds in a timely maaner within the prescribed timeframe as outlined in hospital policy.
4. Responsible for the timely completion, competencies, accuracy and eligibility of the medical record.Adhering to medical record documentation requirements in conformance with hospital policy.
5. Provides on-call service and ensures availability and response time within the prescribed timeframe in accordance with hospital policy.
6. Provides patient care and consultation for patients in outside facilities as assigned.
7. Conducts daily morning rounds to identify patients ready for discharge. Ensures that discharge orders are written 24 hours prior to discharge.
8. Performs any other clinical responsibilities related to the speciality, as assigned.
II. Academic Responsibilities
1. Supervises the Assistant Physicians/Fellow/Residents closely for the duration of the episode of care.
2. Guides and actively participates in the training and teaching of Residents, Fellows and Assistant Consultants and junior staff.
3. Participates in department's educational activities and training programs of the department. Partakes in national and international medical conferences.
4. Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and continuing education requirements.
