Engineer | Automation FP (Saudi Arabia)

JOB PURPOSE :

To Maintain and continuously optimize the Level 2 Automation systems for Hot Strip Mill, Hot Skin Pass Mill, Hot Slitting and Recoiling Line, Push Pickling Line, Cold Reversing Mill, Batch Annealing, Temper Mill, Continuous Galvanizing, and Cold Slitting and Color Coating Line in order to safely achieve the targeted quality and production of the rolled products.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ensure implementation and compliance of the Hadeed Safety Health, Environment Management Systems (SHEMS).
Perform all required functions to ensure healthy condition of all Level 2 Process Automation systems for Hot and Cold Mill Complex in terms of system availability, quality of model predictions and quality of reporting.
Support Operations and QA in investigations about product quality problems, suggest and implement solutions and corrective measures for problems with thickness, crown, shape, wedge, temperature, surface, material properties, etc. Generate custom reports from stored data upon user request.
Maintain and optimize production databases strategy in cooperation with other agencies like Operations, QA/QC and PPC staff for normal operation as well as for trials with new product grades.
Take regular backups of the system, application and data as required for system and production data availability.
Manage and optimize operating system, databases, system and application software to achieve optimum availability and performance. Maintain version control for application software.
Implement system software and hardware upgrades if required, ensuring portability of applications to upgraded environment.
Coordinate and implement modifications of Level 2 systems with Operations, Level 1 Maintenance, PPC and QA for adapting to changes in production practices.
Design and implement new features and system functionalities with the objective of continuous improvement, driven by own analysis as well as upon request from Operations or other agencies.
Support and cooperate with Level 1 and Level 3 Automation Engineers for optimum problem elimination within the shortest possible time.
Coordinate with appropriate hardware maintenance agency to solve hardware problems.
Assist with the continual improvement of the Quality System by implementing and participating in process improvement initiatives in relative areas.
Assist in identifying and evaluating quality problems, suggesting solutions and recommending suitable corrective measures.
Adopt a safe working practice, keeping data integrity and plant availability as utmost importance.
Maintain activity logs to share information about problems and solutions with all other Automation Group members.
Update related documentation in case of software changes.
Familiarize and train Level 2 system users.
Ensure the Safety standards are followed to the extent of his authority.




Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications: (Degree, training, or certification required): University degree- BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering , Software Engineer Or Electrical/Electronics/Automation.
Job Specific Skills:

Interpersonal Relation / Communication Skills
Spoken English - Fluent.
Written English - Fluent.
PC Skill - Very Good.
Programming Languages Knowledge (C,VB,C++,C#).
Database Knowledge.
Operating System Knowledge.
Competencies:

Good understanding of modeling physical processes
Knowledge of flat rolling processes
Good understanding of hierarchical real-time control systems and strategies.
Programming and debugging knowledge.
Knowledge of Administration of operating systems, Database systems.
Knowledge of network protocols TCP/IP & DECNET.
Problem solving/Decision making:

Investigate problems associated with equipment and systems, suggest and implement improvements.
Monitor and fix problems of Level 2 when ever discovered.
Implement safe guards and system protection.
Evaluate health of level#2 systems in terms of availability and safe plant operations.
