Quantum Analyst - Senior Quantity Surveyor

GENERAL STATEMENT:

Under the general direction of Quantum Expert / Senior Quantity Surveyor, this role is responsible for the performing Quantum analysis and preparing financial claims. Ability to delivery of professional assignments, establishing commercial processes and procedures alongside major main contractors. To understand procurement, tendering, reporting, and have an ability to manage change. To be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a client facing environment.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
• Analyzing Financial Claims: examine financial records, contracts, and other relevant documents to determine the extent of financial losses or damages incurred by a party involved in a dispute.
• Quantifying Quantum: to quantify the quantum, or monetary value, of the financial losses or damages. This involves identifying and evaluating various cost elements, such as direct costs, indirect costs, and consequential losses.
• Preparing Expert Reports: prepare comprehensive and well-supported expert reports that outline their findings, methodologies, and conclusions regarding the quantum of the financial losses or damages. These reports serve as crucial evidence in legal proceedings.
• Providing Expert Testimony: to provide expert testimony in court or arbitration proceedings, explaining their analysis and findings to the court or tribunal. Their testimony helps the court understand complex financial matters and reach an informed decision.
• Advising Legal Teams: provide expert advice to legal teams throughout the dispute resolution process, assisting them in understanding the financial implications of the case and preparing strong arguments.
• Conducting Research and Staying Updated: conduct research and stay updated on the latest developments in financial accounting, construction economics, and relevant legal principles to ensure their analyses are accurate and up to date.
• Maintaining Professional Certification: Many forensic quantum analysts maintain professional certifications, such as the Chartered Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) or the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), to demonstrate their expertise and competence.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• Understanding of tendering and procurement processes, Subcontract procurement and management
• Change Management including raising and valuing variations /compensation events.
• Awareness of project planning techniques. A sound working knowledge of various standard forms of contracts.
• Awareness of delay analysis methodologies for complex construction projects’; claims management and support; construction contracts.
• Ability to write project reports. Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds; must be detail-oriented and highly organized; and must be able to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer-service attitude.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Science in relevant Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Science / Management.
• Work experience on large programmes with proven track record (min 15 years experience, of which 10 years in large scale projects)
• Ability to produce oral and written presentations to clients and other stakeholders.
• Strong work experience with MS Office application.
• Can communicate effectively with different disciplines to obtain scope of work and other information and manage the development and review of schedules.
• Excellent organizer with proven time management skills


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Working towards being a Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (preferred)
• Experience in developing expert reports quantifying delays and apportioning quantum to responsible parties.
